Lahyrnt: Gyrd's supercontinent
Lahyrnt is Gyrd's only supercontinent, and, by far, its largest land mass.

Lahyrnt covers a significant portion of Gyrd's surface area and plays a significant role in the definition of Gyrd's prime meridian. From east to west, Lahyrnt stretches from approximately 114 degrees east longitude at its easternmost point to approximately 114 degrees west longitude at its westernmost point. Lahyrnt stretches from slightly north of Gyrd's northern polar circle to south of Gyrd's southern polar circle. From north to south, Lahyrnt stretches from approximately 71 degrees north latitude at its northernmost point to approximately 71 degrees south latitude at its southernmost point. The intersection of Gyrd's equator and Gyrd's prime meridian is near the geographical center of Lahyrnt. Lahyrnt is vaguely shaped like an hourglass tilted at an angle, being narrower at the equator than at many, but not all, lines of latitude that pass over Lahyrnt, and with the majority of Lahyrnt's land area being either in the northwestern or southeastern quadrant of Gyrd. If one were to draw the smallest possible rectangle containing all of Lahyrnt's land area, approximately 60% of such a rectangle would consist of Lahyrnt.

In addition to Lahyrnt, tens of thousands of islands are on Lahyrnt's supercontinental shelf, many of which are part of one of six major island groups, with numerous other island groups located closer to Lahyrnt's coastline.

Surprisingly, given the massive amount of land area covered by such a jurisdiction, all of Lahyrnt and all islands on Lahyrnt's supercontinental shelf are under the jurisdiction of the Lahyrtian Imperial Democratic Republic, an unitary state with an unique and complex form of government.
